Canada's Digital Trade Infrastructure

TransPacific Trade Nexus (TPTN) is Canada-first sovereign digital trade infrastructure designed to support Canadian exporters, especially SMEs, and the institutions that enable trade. Its modular architecture is being developed to support compliance preparation, electronic trade documents, ESG and supply-chain evidence, and AI-assisted decision support, using open standards and Canadian data residency by design.

Why TPTN Is Being Built

Canada's SME exporters face significant friction in cross-border trade — navigating fragmented compliance requirements, paper-based documentation, and limited access to verified trading partner networks. TPTN was developed to address this gap: modular, standards-aligned infrastructure that reduces administrative burden and supports digital trade execution at scale.

How We’re Building It Differently

TPTN is designed as modular infrastructure rather than a replacement for existing trade and government systems. The architecture is being developed to support compliance workflows, electronic transferable records, ESG and supply-chain evidence, and AI-assisted trade document processing. Its modular design supports phased implementation and interoperability, allowing institutions to evaluate defined capabilities without dependency on full-system deployment.

This overview shows how TPTN is being structured to connect key trade actors through shared infrastructure, trusted governance, and more coordinated execution.

Empowering the Trade Ecosystem

  • Exporters: TPTN is designed to reduce administrative burden for SME exporters by supporting more structured compliance preparation, trade agreement workflows, evidence capture and digital trade execution.

  • Government & Public Agencies: TPTN is designed for alignment with Canadian trade and digital governance priorities, with audit-ready architecture, standards-based interoperability and modular pathways for pilot evaluation and phased institutional implementation.

  • The Trade Ecosystem: TPTN is designed to support interoperable information and workflow exchange across exporters, logistics providers, customs brokers, government systems and other trade participants, while preserving the role of existing institutional and commercial systems.
